Meaning of 'ravatana'

n ravatani f (rauta) Depredations and ravages of horse-marauders. To this word, in order to amplify its sense into Wild freebooters or Desert-rangers, or by way merely of emphatic enhancement, the word rana is often prefixed; as ranaravatani hyace khatarenta nahi; ṃha ranaravatani bhita nahi or mmanita nahi &c.; and thus ṃranarava- tani becomes confounded with rani rautani q. v.
